External NMH Support for Universities

As the landscape of DSA-funded support continues to evolve, many Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are growing their university-funded provision to ensure every student receives timely, effective support, including those who are not eligible for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) or who need help beyond their approved funding.

At Onyx Support, we partner with universities and colleges to provide non-DSA funded Non-Medical Help (NMH) for students who require additional or alternative support. We understand the increasing operational pressure on disability and wellbeing teams, including the challenges of meeting Department for Education (DfE) expectations for lower-band and specialist provision. Our role is to help you close capacity gaps quickly, maintain compliance, and deliver consistent student outcomes through a reliable, responsive external service.

We deliver comprehensive support across Bands 1–4, ensuring continuity and quality at every level of need. With extensive capacity across the UK, including Northern Ireland, and Ireland, we provide on-campus delivery, home visits, and remote support, enabling institutions to meet demand efficiently in term time and beyond.
